One hell of a liv e performance. Maynard James Keenan’s vocals here are unreal. I wish I had been of concert going age back in the early 90's.

Bonus A Perfect Circle

The youth radio channel on our national broadcaster had,for a time, a couple of afternoon presenters that had a segment they called Tool Tuesday.

I am old enough to have seen Tool back then but their Oz visits were too far and infrequent to make it happen...

In complete contrast, I have been living this album for the last week whilst waiting for their third album...

I got to see them twice when they were touring after releasing Undertow. Once indoors at the State Theater (now the Fillmore Detroit- incidentally this was the one and only “date” in my life)  and once outdoors at the Phoenix Plaza Amphitheater in Pontiac.

Lucky enough to see them live when they came to Detroit after releasing 10,000 Days. Put on a great show. Now days Maynard seems content to just stand in the back in the shadows and sing.

Ahh, the 90s. My brother and I were in middle school and high school and would stay up really late in the hopes that Sober and Prison Sex would be shown on MTV (the full versions were never shown before 10pm or so). Undertow was the first non-gangsta-rap album that I remember Walmart almost banning. The version they ended up selling was just a big barcode on a white background. IIRC, Tool did this in protest for having to sell an edited version.

And being big Weird Al fans, we’d always try to lighten the mood by doing parodies. “Why can’t we knock things over?” was a popular line.

I still love their musicianship, but damn if MJK isn’t the most self-righteous, pompous douche of the past 30 years of music.

I had the “ edited” Undertow CD in high school (not long after Lateralus came out) . I use quotation marks because the music itself was uncensored. But yeah, Maynard is definitely described well by the band’s name.

I am a colossal fan of Tool and Maynard in general. I was hooked when i saw the video for Aenima on MTV back in the 90s. I got to see them at Ozzfest 98. Although i did see Puscifer last year, which was a great show as well.

I always wondered what would happen if MJK and Trent Reznor collaborated, be it solo or with their respective groups..
